Are Travel Insurance Companies Providing Coverage for the Coronavirus Outbreak?

Travelers might have purchased the best health insurance plan but industry experts are doubtful of its viability in the face of epidemic and pandemic outbreaks as such emergencies are usually excluded from insurance coCoronavirus has so far claimed the lives of 491 persons, besides infecting 24,554, according to the World Health Organization report. Cities have been closed in China for travelers and international flights to the country have been halted. Overseas travelers, who have travel insurance coverage are asking whether cover also includes coronavirus outbreak? 

As it’s still a matter of contention if it’s covered or not, travelers with manufacturing in China’s cities are the worst hit as of now. Tens of airlines, including likes of British Airways, Cathay Pacific, American Airlines, have canceled flights to China. Though airlines are offering travelers refunds and rebooking options, it’s travel insurers who’re yet to brace up for insurance claims.

An international travel health insurance company, Allianz is directing its customers that they should go through their insurance policy’s terms and conditions thoroughly before claiming costs. Also, it made very clear to travelers to change their visit destinations.
